Plus Prince of Persia... maybe
Ubisoft are banking heavily on the popularity of the Nintendo Wii console, announcing that seven titles are underway for the new console. Having already announced Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids for the innovative system, another five titles have now been confirmed: Far Cry, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Monster 4x4 World Circuit, Open Season and GT Pro Series. Other major publishers like EA have already pledged extensive support for the console, which many believe could be a surprise hit in the up-coming next-generation console war.
Rumours abound on the internet that a Prince of Persia for the Wii console is en route too, after a reference to it was spotted in a rapidly-retracted French press release. Later press releases also pointed to another 'unannounced' title, so who knows what that could be... "We don't have a crystal ball but we think the Wii is going to be a huge success right away and we want to be the number-one independent publisher for Wii in 2006," Ubi's Laurent Detoc told US site IGN.
The new Far Cry will apparently be loosely based on the Xbox version, with a modified plot, roster of enemies and more promised. The Wiimote will be used for shooting and driving, too, likewise in Blazing Angels we should see two-handed control of planes being employed. We'll bring you more on these soon.
