Even more accomplished on the Wii, says Luke
But new peripheral some way off
In a move that may or may not have anything to do with the potentially disastrous Dualshock court ruling, Sony has been granted a patent to examine the potential of beaming sensory information straight into the brain. The US patent was granted to Sony researcher Thomas Dawson and covers a technology which could one day send sounds, sights, smells and tastes directly into people's grey matter. Ultrasonic pulses are aimed at specific areas of the brain which induces the sensory feelings. "The pulsed ultrasonic signal alters the neural timing in the cortex," the patent states. "No invasive surgery is needed to assist a person, such as a blind person, to view live and/or recorded images or hear sounds."
Apparently the technology has been deemed 'plausible' by those who have the faintest idea how it may actually work. Sony has yet to conduct any experiments and the patent was requested in case this line of development could one day become viable. The possibilities for the deaf or blind are obvious, as is the potential for fantastically immersive a rich gameplay experiences.
Just don't expect it to be a launch peripheral for the PS3.
OMG!! I never realised before, but that is very plausible!!
Feelings, sights and sounds are just electrical impulses picked up by the brain, if u connect a video camera to a few wires, connect it to your brain then voila! Revolutionary Visionary Aide!!

Sony should use it to make people buy more PS2s and PSPs. That way the competition will all go out of business quicker, and Sony can begin their rule a bit earlier. :-)

my friend and i were talking about this one day after we heard about the patent. at first we thought sony could use this technology to create the matrix- or something like it. however, we eventually decided that this would be impossible, be cause if everyone was in the same computerized wolrd at the same time, it would be destroyed in a matter of minutes. since the matrix would be artificial, our every whim could effect the weather, the buildings, the placement of objects, ect... therefore, with people clashing eachother's artificial actions, the entire system would be in conflict with itself. so, a matrix in our heads with sights and smells, and feelings would be impossible, right?

this is just another sign that the end times are coming!
Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
The bible says the Antichrist will force a mark of loyalty on the people of this world. The work "mark" in greek means "etching." Micro
chips are silicone etchings. Sony may very well be the manufacturer behind this device. And if this technology can put these images into the brain, what else could put in there. Please read this and warn all people
and video gamers alike that bible prophecy is coming to life.
So if this is actually possible just think of the door that is being opened!
