Sony get Jackie Chan all to themselves

New PS2 exclusive confirmed

Sony took the opportunity on this quiet Monday morning to officially announce a brand new PS2 exclusive - Jackie Chan Adventures. The new videogame will be based on an official licence from the popular martial arts cartoon of the same name, which features the high-kicking actor doing what he does best en masse. The videogame will be developed by Atomic Planet Entertainment (or APE, if you prefer), and will be released this September.

The new game features Mr Chan on a globe-trotting adventure with his 11 year-old protégé Jade, searching for lost 'talismans' of mysterious power. The talismans will unlock new powers in Jackie and open up new areas of the world to be explored. Jackie and Jade will also find themselves in mortal combat with a variety of ancient Chinese demons, and a group of evil Ninjas known as the Dark Hand.

EyeToy mini games will be unlocked as players progress, and cartoon visuals faithfully recreating the style of the cartoon series are promised. "The Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon series lends itself perfectly to be adapted to a videogame and we are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to produce it," enthused Jason Falcus, Operation Director, Atomic Planet. "Our team has worked very hard to create a great game that is true to the show in both look and feel, and I am confident it will appeal to fans of the series and fans of action-adventure games alike."
