Rockstar clearly felt they had teased us all enough up until this point, with the Take 2 division finally unveiling the next eagerly-awaited instalment in the big-selling Grand Theft Auto series in the shape of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, today. San Andreas (based loosely on San Francisco), will naturally be created by Rockstar North - with the following release dates planned: North America on October 19th and Europe on October 22nd, 2004. We can hardly wait. Oh, and in case you didn't realise, the game is a PS2 exclusive.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," enthused Rockstar President Sam Houser. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Leslie Benzies of Rockstar North also added: "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values."

The series has sold in excess of thirty-million copies to-date, and this sequel is sure to be among the most anticipated releases ever. Naturally, we'll bring you as much as we can on this massive game, just as soon as we can get our greedy paws on it.

words fail me when thinking about the type of people forums attract:
    "you suck"
    "gta3 sucks ball"
people are allowed to have their opinions but these sort of statements don't do anything.

Who says 50cent will be doing contemporary rap? I can see him as a 70s fly-boy :D Besides,San Andreas is based on San Francisco, and what other period better evokes the hilly car chases of San Francisco than the 70s? And for those who say the 70s have nothing; there's a whole stack of info for Rockstar to delve into, if they have chosen the 70s. The music can be pretty catchy and they have the influences of Starsky and Hutch, ALL the 70s crime movies, and even games like Driver to use as inspiration.
