Sony Computer Entertainment Europe chief David Reeves has noted that Final Fantasy XIII remains a PlayStation 3 exclusive in Japan, stating his belief that a launch on the 360 in Western markets might not be the critical blow some commentators believe it to be.

Microsoft's console will of course get Square Enix's long-awaited role-playing game at the same time as Sony's in Europe and North America - although Japan remains key, still.

"I think that just as we got a massive blip up with GTA IV – which was not exclusive – we’ll get exactly the same blip up with Final Fantasy," Reeves told VG247.

"I know it will look great on PS3 and – it’s up to Microsoft to clarify this – it’s still exclusive in Japan."

More from Reeves as we get it.
