Watchmen games on their way

Please don't mess it up, please don't mess it up

Fans of the Watchmen comic book who are getting excited about the upcoming film will be pleased to discover that Warner Bros. have announced at least two downloadable games based on the film.

The deal with Deadline Games (developers of the enjoyable PSP action game Chilli Con Carnage) should ensure the first of these will be available come the launch of the movie next March according to Variety.

The games will be available on PSN, Xbox Live Arcade and PC and the shorter downloadable nature of them is apparently an attempt to avoid some of the problems that plague most dodgy film tie-ins.

Warner’s Samantha Ryan said "We don't want a low-quality console game that will get lost at retail, a downloadable game allows us to deliver the experience that fans expect."

Dawn of the Dead (2004) and 300 director Zack Snyder is the man tasked with turning Alan Moore's sublime work into a film, fingers crossed both he and Deadline Games do it justice.
