Sega have this week confirmed, via Japanese weekly Famitsu, that Yakuza 3 is in development. The Yakuza 3 we thought had already been released? Yes. Apparently, Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! (as it was known in Japan) was not the real third installment, which is in fact in the works now.

Toshihiro Nagoshi will once again direct the game, according to Famitsu's report, cited by Joystiq, and will be truer to the direction taken with titles one and two.

We can expect to head back into the Yakuza's past, with more samurai action and sword-battling on the cards.

Sega won't say when Yakuza 3 will be released. Here's hoping Western audiences also get a slice of the action.
