Chair purchased by Epic

Undertow dev acquired

Chair Entertainment, creators of the action-pack Undertow for the Xbox Live Arcade, have been acquired by Epic Games for an undisclosed sum.

The developer will now come under Epic's wing, and we're told they will continue to focus on the creation of original games built using Epic's Unreal Engine technology. Undertow was of course the first Arcade release built on the next-gen engine.

"Chair’s stylized approach to creating games is further enhanced by their ability to stretch our technology in new directions that not only help in creating amazing gaming experiences but also demonstrate the power and versatility of the Unreal Engine," beamed Epic VeePee Mark Rein.

"We are thrilled to bring the Chair team into the Epic family, and look forward to working with them to create original new games that continue to innovate and inspire."
