GC 2008 in good shape

Biggest ever expo looms?

This years largest European games event, Games Convention 2008, is in remarkably good shape - perhaps as a result of the ambiguity that still surrounds the significance of this year's E3 in LA.

According to organisers, the Leipzig Messe-based event is looking considerably larger than last year, with reports hinting that the show could break new records.

More exhibitors than ever look likely to attend, the show running from August the 21st to the 24th. The showcase has already been confirmed for 2009, too, although a rival event has also been announced for Cologne (GamesCon).

"With considerably more than 500 exhibitors (2007: 503 exhibitors), the fair organisers expect another record," said the organisers. "Interest is particularly strong among international game publishers and developers."
