As the dust settles over E3 for another twelve-months the final tidbits of excitement continue to stagger onto the net, nursing the mass hangover of a week's drinking, sweating and games playing. News on the latest Indiana Jones has just reached our desks, dubbed Indiana Jones 2007 as a working title, the new game is currently being developed by LucasArts for a release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Presumably in 2007, we'd wager.

Apparently, George Lucas himself is over-seeing the game's storyline, which kicks-off in 1939 as the Nazis stranglehold on Europe is beginning to tighten. All Jones' friends will apparently star, not to mention a fair few of his most potent enemies, and we're told to expect a 'mystery of biblical proportions'. A lot more environmental interaction will be the order of the day in Indie's new adventure, and hand-to-hand combat will be key to the game. Chase sequences will also be rather fun and should more than doff their hats to the seminal films.

A brand new animation system has been created, we're told, which should help bring the peril of sequences to life more vividly as movements won't be scripted, rather responsive to the exact predicament. LucasArts promise an experience that will never be quite the same twice... which sounds promising indeed.

So, the next-gen Indiana Jones game is looking more than a little brilliant, and let's be honest it's about time too. New games for other platforms are also promised by LucasArts, we'll keep you posted as ever.
