Ubisoft reveal Battle of Britain
New flight sim on the runway
Maddox Games, the team behind award-winning examples of flight simmery IL-2 and Pacific Fighters have used the launch pad afforded by the E3 expo in LA to officially unveil a brand new series of flight simulation titles, being published by Ubisoft.
Storm of War: Battle of Britain will hit the PC in November, and classic WWII planes and historical missions would seem to be the order of the day. As well as the authentically-inspired single player campaign, Storm of War will include intriguing online co-op and dogfight modes.
Whilst an in-depth flight simulation of the terrifyingly real variety is promised, Maddox are also mooting 'scaleable' gameplay, which will raise the bar of realism as a pilot's ability increases, meaning that the uninitiated will still have a chance to get straight into the action. A new 3D engine also promises to bring the dogfights of WWII to life in more vivid detail than ever, and damage modelling will add further to the sense of immersion as your plane disintegrates convincingly before your eyes. More on this soon.
