Activision and Infinity Ward today announced the upcoming arrival of nine new multiplayer maps for Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox 360. The map packages for the 360's best-selling game, which will release in a batch of four mid-spring and the remaining five around July, will be available through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

However, only the first two maps: 'Bonus Map Pack - Vossenack and Wallendar, Germany', will be free downloads. The two outstanding maps from the initial spring allocation: 'Skirmish Map Pack - Kalach, Russia and Beaumont-Hague, France', will cost 400 Microsoft Points through the Marketplace. All four of the maps will debut at this year's E3 Expo in May. The five-map pack scheduled for release in the summer will cost a further 900 Microsoft Points and is entitled 'The Invasion Pack'. It will consist of Antoville, St. Louet, and Amaye sur Seulles, all based in France, as well as Alam Halfa in Egypt, and Rostov in Russia.
