The servers supporting Hellgate: London, the debut (and only) title from Bill Roper's Flagship Studios start-up, are set to close according to reports emerging over the weekend.

Namco Bandai had picked up the publishing rights to Hellgate, news originally hinting that the Japanese giant would continue to support the game. The firm will back the game until January 31st, 2009.

Play until February next year will at least be free, the company offering this as a 'gesture of support' for those who bought the game, and perhaps didn't envisage Flagship's untimely demise.

Runic Games now plays home to many of Flagship's developers, who continue to make games of the online persuasion.
