Chatting with GI.biz, Bungie veteran Brian Jarrard has revealed that the game maker's secret new IP is not contractually linked to Microsoft, meaning that theoretically the developer could find another publisher for their new game if they wished.

Bungie were of course owned by Microsoft until late last year, when the studio were granted their independence while MS kept hold of the Halo license. It is believed Bungie have been working on a new game since this shock departure.

"No, we’re not [tied to the Xbox 360]," PR director Jarrard offered when asked about the new IP. "We haven’t gotten that far yet to be totally honest.

"In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. So who knows what the future will bring us."

More on this soon, we hope.
