Retail giant HMV has this week announced the acquisition of UK multiplayer gaming chain Gamerbase. Gamerbase have been running a concession at the retailer's Trocadero store in London's Picadilly, and are planning to roll out the concept across the UK.

Apparently, the Trocadero multiplayer centre has been going well, prompting HMV to buy the brand and the idea for other stores - although it is unclear where will be getting a centre at this juncture.

"Where we roll them out, we’ll be looking to locate the Gamerbase centres next to our games departments to bring the whole offer together for our customers - so if someone’s enjoyed playing a game online, they can pre-order or purchase it there and then," beamed HMV's Tim Ellis.

We'll bring you more on Gamerbase, as we get it.
