Sony have confirmed that new firmware updates are on the way for the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable; enhancements adding new features and better accessibility in-bound.

The Bluetooth headset will get a new high-quality audio mode, ahead of the release of SOCOM. Chat will no doubt be easier and cleverly, in-game chat will be filtered according to speaker proximity.

A new interface for friends lists, Trophies and the PSN store is on the way, and there will be a few light additions, too.

New power-saving features are on the way; while you can now boil videos down into 'scenes'. The PSP, meanwhile, will be getting full remote PSN access, allowing you to download new Store titles without a PC.

Lastly, the XMB is also getting a a bit of a visual overhaul. Which is nice. More soon.
