In a commendably honest reveal, Electronic Arts boss John Riccitiello has told investors that he doesn't expect EA Mythic’s new fantasy MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, to be a serious rival to the all conquering World of Warcraft.

However, that’s not to say he thinks the game is going to sink without trace, in fact he's quietly confident that it'll still turn a healthy profit without needing to topple WoW. Speaking at the William Blair & Company's investors meeting he said the WAR would be "a strong entry in the MMORPG space" going on to say, "No, I don't think it's going to rival WOW, but no one would ever predict that. But it is a strong game that will... Get our returns for us. We're proud of it."

Considering WAR is all set to go head to head with the release of WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King it's perhaps better for EA to keep their expectations realistic, even the Warhammer licence may find it tough against fresh WoW.
