Google search technology will be integrated into the PSP handheld as part of the forthcoming version 4.00 firmware update.

We've no date for the update as yet, but it is promised 'soon', PSN boss Eric Lempel revealing Sony's plans via a new blog update.

The new Google search functionality will be added to the Network section of the device, and it'll allow you to search the web using the number one search engine.

"And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn't be easier," Lempel tells us.

A number of other tweaks and changes will be ushered in as part of the new firmware.
