With Ninja Gaiden II creator Tomonobu Itagaki on his way out of game maker Tecmo over alleged unpaid royalties, online reports this week hint that more developers could follow the veteran out the door.

Key Team Ninja devs are said to be among those leaving, with as many as 30 or 40 staffers said to be on the way out.

More over, it seems that those departing are siding with Itagaki, and will file lawsuits over unpaid bonuses for completed games.

"Tecmo would like to assure its loyal fans that Team Ninja, known for its top-selling and critically acclaimed Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises, is intact and, as a matter of fact, has several new projects already underway," read a statement from the publisher, as this news emerged.

More on the Japanese publisher's ongoing troubles as we get it.
