Eurogamer.net are today reporting a rather interesting spot of news on Midway's forthcoming first-person shooter titled Area 51. Lt. Nick Cross will be the main character at the centre of Area 51 - and will begin the story by stumbling across some rather inhospitable foreigners which impregnate him with a "biological mutagen", which poor Nick soon finds is transforming him into some kind of alien lifeform. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Naturally, this alien mutation will form a centrepiece for the action, which will take place across eight levels and incorporate both human and alien abilities and weapons. Apparently, Oscar winning artist Stan Winston is behind the creature designs, and the game will be out sometime in 2004 for the PS2 and Xbox. Online multiplayer action will be supported, too!
