Sony have told the assembled might of the European gaming press that PlayTV will launch in September, and will cost 99 Euro (something like 79 GBP in the UK).

The new service will see the PS3 fulfilling its billing as a media hub, giving users access to all manner of clever set-top box functionality. You'll have the option of exporting saved programmes to the XMB for saving alongside other media, we're told.

All this goodness will be accessible via Remote Play from the PSP, too, and in other PSP related news SCEE's own David Reeves has confirmed that from later this summer retrograde UMD releases for the handheld will be purchasable in digital download form.

Go! Explore was also released for the PSP in recent weeks, ushering-in Sat-Nav functionality, Sony were quick to point out.

We'll keep our noses to the ground for more on everything Sony, as the press briefing draws to a close.
