Rumours coming out of China this week purport to reveal that manufacturer Pegatron has been enlisted by Microsoft to deliver a brand new revision of the Xbox 360 console, that will include a fully-integrated Blu-ray drive.

The EDN newspaper reveals that the overhauled system will land in Q3 2008, online chit-chat pointing to an August launch. This would tie-in with the previously rumoured 'Jasper' unit, already mentioned by industry soothsayers like Dean Takahashi.

We're told 'Jasper' will include a smaller 65nm ATI graphics module and reduced-footprint memory chips, too. The console could be ready for the key festive season by all accounts, and if these rumours prove true it'll offer faster visuals, more reliability and the long-denied Blu-ray technology to boot.

Or, this could all still be nonsense. More as we get it.
