Soon to merge publishers Activision and Blizzard have announced this week that they are to depart trade-body the ESA (ELSPA for the USA, basically). The publishers also confirm they won't be attending E3 this July.

"While the Entertainment Software Association remains the preeminent voice for U.S. computer and video game publishers, we can confirm that Activision and Vivendi Games opted to discontinue their membership," read a statement from ESA boss Rich Taylor.

"The ESA remains dedicated to advancing our industry’s objectives such as protecting intellectual property, preserving First Amendment rights, and fostering a beneficial environment for the entire industry. Our high level of service and value to members and the larger industry remains unchanged."

Along with Acti-Blizz, we also learn that Foundation 9, NCsoft and Atlus won't be attending this year's LA-based gaming showcase. More soon.
