The latest news from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, reveals that the SingStar series has now passed a whopping 12 million in sales, in PAL regions alone.

The game launched in 2004 for the PS2, with music-genre based iterations selling strongly ever since, while the PS3 edition made the presentation even more slick also offering a downloadable 'SingStore'.

Over one million downloads have now been sold via the SingStore.

Naturally, Sony are rather pleased with the series' success thus far, executive Paulina Bozek enthusing: "SingStar’s success is built upon simple and entertaining game play. Historically we have added new music tracks to keep the experience fresh but the arrival of PS3 has allowed us to think differently."

More on this soon.
