More word from yesterday's Games Studios showcase in London's Islington, DICE announcing plans for a Battlefield Heroes beta test.

An invitation-only test will kick-off next month, with sign-up possible from May 6th.

This test will lead to an open beta later in the summer/autumn, which will then roll into a full release once DICE are satisfied the game can be classified as having departed 'beta' status (in a Google-style).

Battlefield Heroes is a cartoon-style first-person shooter that will be distributed free (via a 250MB download) on the PC. The game will be funded by microtransactional payments, although DICE assure us that they won't allow the business model to unbalance the game.

More soon.
