The success of Christmas smash Assassin's Creed has assured the game a future beyond the first installment, Ubisoft speaking of a series that will be around for "years to come".

Ubisoft big wig Yves Guillemot noted the series' bright future in dialogue with analysts following the announcement of the firm's latest financial results.

The first title sold 6 million copies, Ubi describing the game's success as "better than expected", according to Kotaku.

PC and DS versions of the game arrived this month, and these editions will no doubt further boost sales.
