Word via email this week informs us that several gamers have been given the honour of carrying the Olympic torch on part of its route through China.

Local professional gamers XiaoFeng "Sky" Li and Jaeho "Moon" Jang have been backed by sponsors Razer to carry the Olympic torch en route to the Games, being held in Beijing this summer.

The flame's path to the events have been plagued in parts of Europe and the US, by angry protests over China's role in Tibet, while pro-China activists have hit back at the demonstrators and questioned the partiality of the Western media's reporting of the crisis.

"Team Razer extends hearty congratulations to Sky and Moon, and we are just as excited as they are," Razer boss Robert Krakoff, revealed.

More as we get it.
