According to a report by Gamesindustry.biz, the Japanese paper that original quoted Microsoft head honcho Steve Ballmer (Nihon Keizai Shimbun) as stating that the Xbox successor would be out in 2006, among other things, has retracted the claim. Apparently, there was something of a mix-up that led to Analysts' speculation being used as a quote from Ballmer himself. More over, the faux pas was worsened by the fact that the original date mentioned was in fact 2005, not 2006. Quite a category of errors, it would seem.

So we don't know anything basically, though rumour has it that 2005 is a more likely date - with Redmond attempting to steal a march on Sony and Nintendo with a more timely a more powerful product. Only time will of course tell.

That and the fact Microsoft's share price probably took a dip putting the release date back a year. A bit muscle will make anybody eat their hat.

Clarifying on what I meant "console ease" It means....you stick a game in and regardless of whether youve defragmented your harddrive or not, or whether you've upgraded the patch for the game or the drivers for your card ... you just stick in the game and turn it on and always it just goes "WHAMO!" and boots up into your game right where you left off and always what you expect. Consoles are -in my opinion- the best platform for games. I know I know there are reasons for PC's to dominate the gamers options of things to play games on but I just love how no matter what I just stick in this li'l disc or CD and in a few seconds I get a game and never a glitch.

I just got done playing Time Splitters II for GC. Man what a fun game. Most of all I like the smooooothness and customizability of nearly everything you do. I also like the multiple appraoches of the game. YOu can appraoch it as an arcade/quick shoot'em up w/customizability of levels and characters and weapons OH MY! You may also appraoch the game in Story mode with all the above and as multiplayer w all the above and Network "Surf" ability "but not on gamecube" D O U B L E D O W N" on Nintendo for that. Shame on you Nintendo *wags the finger* shame! But Oh well..just have to trade it in for the Playstation version just so I can play it over my "hmmm can I play it on just a LAN?" That would be cool if LANable abilities were built in for CAT-5 on the the Modem/Cable Modem but I realize 99.9 percent of poeple are using dial-up errr or is that really 79 percent - who cares. Anyway: I want my HD TV capable RGB outputs on teh Gamecube 2 OR else NO BUY!
