Sims series passes 100 million
New milestone for EA stalwart
Riccitiello's EA, have confirmed today that The Sims series of best-selling games has now passed 100 million in worldwide sales.
The Sims first launched on the PC back in 2000, and has since become what is regarded in many quarters as the best-selling game ever - becoming a global phenomenon.
The Sims 2 online service is also used by over 4 million gamers monthly, says EA, who also note the popularity of game footage on YouTube and elsewhere.
"At this milestone, we want to thank players of The Sims everywhere for making The Sims such a worldwide phenomenon," offered Rod Humble, studio boss.
"The Sims has been an interactive experience for people around the globe to explore their passion for creativity and we're thrilled to be a part of that. From building houses and relationships, from the first kiss to a toddler's first step, from kitchen fires - and even visits from ghosts, players have told more than 100 million unique and fun stories!"
