World of Warcraft breaks Chinese record
More than one million play together
We recently learnt that China has become the world's number one internet user by population, and online games must be just one the areas enjoying this boom, World of Warcraft breaking new ground in the People's Republic.
A new press release by Blizzard and local operator The9 confirms that the number of concurrent players passed one-million last week, the first time since the game's debut in 2005 that so many have been playing the MMORPG at the same time.
According to the local operator, the add-on pack The Burning Crusade is behind the user-peak, the expansion having launched in China last September.
Rumour that WoW is plateauxing could be somewhat premature, perhaps?
