Next-generation Xbox in 2006
In Japan, anyway

NE Asia Online is today reporting on the poor sales performance of the Xbox in Japan, whilst quoting Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer as stating that a next-generation Xbox will be introduced to Japan come 2006, in a bid to maintain a long-term assault on the territory.
Ballmer is also quoted as saying that the company will introduce new services to further appeal to Japanese consumers, as Microsoft attempt to crack this crucial market. Finally, according to the report, Ballmer has also rubbished any speculation that Redmond would attempt to buy a stake in Japanese gaming with an investment in Sega - which the CEO said he believed would not happen.
More details on this as we get it.
