GTA IV cleared by BBFC

Release cleared in the UK

In the wake of the recent Manhunt 2 ratings tussle in the UK, the release of Grand Theft Auto IV could have reasonably been expected to prove another contentious debutant for the British censor.

Not so, however, word reaching us today that the BBFC have passed the game, along with the predictable '18' certification.

The BBFC did of course try to ban Manhunt 2 prior to the Video Appeals Committee ensuring the game a release - but despite the guns, girls, cops and bad language, GTA IV has apparently been deemed acceptable for launch.

MCV confirm the news today; expect the Daily Mail backlash shortly.
