With Ubisoft having now tied-up the rights to Tom Clancy titles 'perpetually', word has it that the publisher could now embark on a new Clancy-inspired MMO title.

Next-Gen.biz report that Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot is plotting to take the Clancy brand online, via a new MMOG.

"We've really decided now to go for an MMO on the Clancy name, which is big..." Guillemot is quoted as stating, the exec hinting that the new game could be in development now, or just commencing.

The boss is clearly rather taken with the clout of the brand, too, enthusing: "You have Splinter Cell, Sam Fisher, the Rainbow, the GRAWs and all the other new creations we have. So this [new IP deal] will make that [MMOG] product a really big product."

Guillemot moots development costs of 40 to 50 million USD, and a release time-scale has yet to be hinted. Likewise platforms. More soon.
