MS believes Blu-ray will succumb to downloads
Lewis talks up digital 'future'
Xbox Euro-chief Chris Lewis says that while Blu-ray is the undisputed winner of the next-gen DVD format tussle, that Sony's HD format will pale in the face of digital downloads.

Chatting this week to GI.biz, Lewis says that Microsoft are unconcerned by the demise of the HD-DVD format they backed, the firm instead banking on glory for their download services.
"More and more people's ongoing and ever-increasing downloading of music and movies is becoming the de facto. I think that's going to happen in very short order; people want to consume that way," the boss commented.
"Before very long we will look back wistfully at shiny discs as something that was somewhat a historic phenomenon in a way that we kind of think about vinyl or VCRs today."
Lewis believes that even by Christmas these digital downloads will be making head-way, the boss stating that he thinks DVD's won't define the Christmas season.
"I think other factors, specifically our architecture around downloads, is far more advantageous and important for the future. We are best placed to offer that, we already offer that, our online pedigree is such that we will offer the best and most seamless experience," he concluded.
More on this sort of thing as we get it.
