Microsoft are hoping to deliver a PC-based equivalent of the Xbox Live Marketplace to Windows Live, according to Kevin Unangst, speaking to Eurogamer.net today.

"You can be confident we want to enable things like digital distribution, the ability to do downloadable content for games - that's a direction we're definitely headed in," Games for Windows boss Kevin Unangst told the website this week.

"We don't have anything specific to announce in terms of timeframes right now."

Unangst also highlighted the fact that Games for Windows Live is free, and isn't based on the same silver and gold pricing structure as the Xbox 360 - gold membership only being required for cross-platform play on the PC.

MS are also promising continued investment in Windows Live, and is a key member of the new PC Gaming Alliance which is looking to boost the platform.
