Reports this afternoon hint that North American gamers might soon be granted a new white hue of PlayStation 3 console, online chatter pointing to a debut across the pond in March.

Employees of US retailer Circuit City let slip this week that new PS3 shipments are arriving, replacing the Spider-Man 3 bundle, and that the new systems sport the model number CECHH01.

Joining the dots, Kotaku then report that this serial number is identified by Federal Communications Commission filings stateside as white versions of the PlayStation 3 system.

So, a white PS3 in North American next month? Sony have yet to confirm, although online confirmation attempts have seen Sony UK denying that a white console will be launched in Europe.
