Access to the entire XNA development suite will be offered to students in a number of countries, allowing them to create games for the Xbox 360 platform without the usual enormous outlays associated with game development.

The free access is being organised under the DreamSpark banner, and is open to students from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland, Canada and the US.

To access the software all you need do is login using your Windows Live ID and choose your educational establishment.

French, Swiss and US students may need to provide additional proof.

  • XNA Game Studio 2.0
  • 12-month free membership in the XNA Creators Club
  • Expression Studio, which includes Expression Web, Expression Blend, Expression Design and Expression Media

  • Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
  • Sql Server Developer Edition
  • Virtual PC 2007
  • Visual Basic 2005
  • Visual C++ 2005
  • Visual C# 2005
  • Visual J# 2005
