A few new details have hit the internet today, helping flesh out what we already know about the forthcoming PlayStation 3 'freeview' television service - PlayTV - which has been on the cards for quite some time.

The accessory, due for release this year, will apparently attach to the PS3's USB port, the gizmo including an aerial socket on the rear. The add-on will integrate a programme guide and promises an easy-to-use menu system.
Sony allowed the BBC an early glimpse of the new service, which will give users the ability to record, pause and rewind live television broadcasts - TiVo-style. A dual-tuner also means that PlayTV allows you to watch and record different programmes at the same time.
Initially, users won't be able to record TV and play games simultaneously, although this feature is coming in a future update, apparently.
PlayTV purchasers will even be able to watch broadcasts remotely via their PSP, using Sony's Remote Play tech. The PSP can already view video files stored on the PS3's hard disk remotely.
Microsoft, meanwhile, are planning a tie-up with BT to deliver UK gamers television content, although we've no word on when this will arrive.
