GamePro magazine's latest issue apparently carries not not one but two mentions of Gears of War 2 upon its cover - despite Rainbow Six Vegas 2 being the main cover story.

While GamePro's publisher's have made no mention of any GoW2 feature elsewhere, the fact that the cover page appears to mention the game twice is perhaps indicative of news to come (although why they wouldn't make it cover story in itself is a mystery).

Could word of Gears 2 be confirmed at GDC this month, then? Well we've two weeks to go until San Francisco, but we already know that Microsoft are plotting big things for the event, shifting focus onto their 2008 line-up. Rumour even points to former EA designer Kudo Tsunoda jumping ship to help design GoW2.

Meanwhile, Epic's Mark Rein has already admitted that the Unreal Engine could be big at GDC, also hinting that Microsoft could have Epic-related new of the not-about-the-engine variety, which is, perhaps, the biggest hint yet.

    Well, Vegas 2 should be on the front cover. R6:V was a lot better than Gears of War. Well, Gears had better Co-op, but outside of that, Vegas was the better game.
