A few new details have emerged today on EA's plans for an ad-sponsored, micro-transaction based installment of popular online battler 'Battlefield', the publisher revealing that unlike past iterations in the series, Battlefield Heroes will be played not from a first but from a third-person perspective.

The free-to-play title will also offer three player classes to become, not to mention a leveling system, which should offer players access to new goodies as they increase their status in the game.

EA's target with Heroes is the mainstream market, hence the new business model, and with this in mind we're told to expect low-end system requirements. An open beta test for the game will also take place in the summer.

We'll bring you more on this interesting new title as we get it.
