Games blamed for violent crimes in NZ
Youth police manager targets games
New Zealand's national manager of police youth services, Bill Harrison, has spoken in the capital Wellington of his concerns, stating that he believes there is a link between the number of violent games available, and the predominance of violent conduct among youths.

GamesIndustry.biz report that Harrison perceived the link after monitoring the behaviour of his own son after witnessing him playing games. "It was desensitising him to violence. It was shifting his norm about how he would deal with conflict. You see these kids - their hands are wringing wet with sweat because their bodies are taking in what's going on on the screen and they are acting it out."
The superintendent says that crime among teenagers is rising as a result of family violence, too, telling the conference that new government research would be conducted in a bid assess the influence of violent games.
