Tom Clancy's Air Combat coming from Ubisoft
Yet another action game from the Clancy stable
Yet another Tom Clancy game has been confirmed today by Ubisoft, who reveal that Tom Clancy's Air Combat is in development for those devilish "next-gen" consoles and the PC.
Set in the near future and bedecked in all the usual geo-political fromage frais you expect from a Clancy-inspired offering, Air Combat will feature a scenario where the USA is under attack and as a hot-shot pilot you're tasked with leading the defense.
Technically advanced jet fighters will be employed to help dish out retribution, along with various technological flying aids, though you'll be able to switch these off and tackle missions hero-style in order to boost performance at a greater risk.
"We are confident that this new brand will become the new benchmark for flight combat games and will be, like other Tom Clancy based games, an instant online multiplayer hit," beamed Sebastien Delen, managing director of Ubisoft's Bucharest studio. "The player will experience all the action and excitement of modern air combat, from intense dog fighting to tactical strikes."
A release in 2008 seems likely. More soon.
