Valve have revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of Orange Box won't be released alongside the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the new compilation - though for a change the trials of developing for Sony's next-gen system have not been blamed for the slippage.

Apparently, Orange Box is taking rather longer than the other versions of the game because EA's development team assisting the PS3 version are based in the UK, several thousand miles from Valve's US HQ.

Valve have stated that they didn't want to hold up the PC or 360 releases, and that thusly the PS3 version will probably arrive two or three weeks later.

Said PC and Xbox 360 versions are due out on October 9th stateside, and on October 12th in Europe. As well as boxed copies, you'll also be able to download the new releases from Steam. Despite the delays, the PS3 version of the game is expected to offer performance every bit as good as the other editions under development.

More as we get it.
