Having unveiled more about Civilization Revolution at last week's E3, some gamers were disappointed to note that while the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS are getting the new console simulation title - the PSP is conspicuously not.

Development on the four chosen platforms is apparently being handled in-house at Firaxis, and it is the limitations of these internal resources that have left the PSP out in the cold, we're told.

UK site Eurogamer.net quotes Firaxis' Barry Caudill as explaining: "The reason the Wii version is in is because we realised that we could free up enough guys to do it, but we don't have enough guys to then do a PSP version as well."

"It's not like we're dissing the platform - I use a PSP. We put Pirates out on it, or rather we had Full Fat do it. But see this one, the difference here is we're doing all of these in-house and so for PSP we may have to - if it was going to come out in a timely fashion - we may have to farm it out. But right now we're just doing all these in-house and that's the official word," he added.

So, a third-party developer could be helping craft any PSP version that does materialise, it would seem. More as we get it.

It's gonna be interesting to see what sort of specials they have in mind for the Wii version.
