Speaking at the Nintendo E3 briefing, US chief Reggie Fils-Aime today announced a brand new channel set for the Wii online service. Dubbed the 'Check Mii Out' channel, we're told to expect a new channel based around the Wii's 'Mii' avatar system.

Through the new channel you'll be able to rate the Mii-based creations of other gamers, 'taking home' your favourite avatars. Ninty have yet to confirm when the new channel will land.

Fils-Aime also announced plans for new online multiplayer releases on the Nintendo Wii, an online version of Mario Kart being perhaps the most significant planned release. Wii Software and WiiWare will also drive new online titles for the Wii onto the interweb in 2008.

Mario Kart Wii, complete with online multiplayer fun, will launch in Q1 2008 we're told - Nintendo also promising that the game will use the freshly announced 'Wii Wheel' peripheral.

More soon.

Well, that's really cool. I was wondering when the Wii was going to get Mario Kart. It's great that it's going to be online. I can't wait for it to come out.
