Experts predict Xbox 360 price cut
Analysts expect MS response to Sony cut
With Sony leading a combative charge into this week's E3 expo by announcing a 100 USD price cut for the 60gb edition PlayStation 3 in North America (taking it to 499 USD), analysts and industry watchers are already beginning to speculate that Microsoft will soon respond with a price cut of their own for the Xbox 360.
Putting on your sagely doubting "Conjecture Hats" for a moment then, we can report, via GameSpot, that Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter is advising that he predicts an Elite model 360 cut from 479 USD to 399 USD, with the Pro and Core packs both losing 50 USD each to 349 USD and 249 USD. He even thinks Microsoft will announce their own cuts as soon as their Tuesday night pre-E3 press conference.
Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital also believes Microsoft will shave the price of the Xbox 360, but believes the firm won't be compelled to act immediately, instead predicting a cut this summer of the order of 50 USD - impacting one or all of the models being sold. Oppenheimer's Shawn Milne likewise expects a cut this year, before Halo 3, in the region of 50 USD.
Looking at the Xbox-PS2 tussle of yesteryear meanwhile, Nollenberger Capital's Todd Greenwald believes a price cut might follow soon, in the region of 100 USD - but that this will be driven by Microsoft's time in the marketplace, rather than Sony's recent move. More on all this soon.

Oooo. A quick price cut would really hack Sony off. We're in for an interesting E3 if that chap is right.
I think they should cut the prices just like that as soon as possible.
I think a price cut of $100 on all 3 modles would all but dystroy the ps3. The PS3 would not sell at all and be forced to take a nother price cut.

After E3 price cuts won't matter. The only thing holding back PS3 sales have been games and SONY is poised to blow everyone away at this years event. From a sales perspective it has been proven time and time again that when a consumer believes they should get a discount what matters most is not the size of the discount but that the need for any discount is satisfied. Now that SONY has done this IF they show proof of superiour gaming and excellent online platforms (gaming and HOME) it does not matter what the price of XBOX 360 is or the Wii. SONY will instantly take the golden mantle of being the best gaming platform and everyone knows the best is more expensive than the rest. It won't be a big deal to say you own an xbox 360 but it will if you say you have a ps3. Such is life with the consumer and by consumer I don't mean over the top gamers who troll these sites, I mean real every day consumers.
My original xbox is fried and I want to know if I should buy a 360 and a game and be totaly broke or buy a refurbished(or used) original xbox and still have money. I wouldnt evan consider a PS3, Numanthia. What should I do?
Buy the way im only 14 so i relly dont have anything better to spend my money on.
