EA announce Rugby World Cup game
Out in two weeks time...
Celebrating the Rugby World Cup, EA have today announced a fairly predictable officially licensed sports game, based around the sport and its flagship tournament. EA Sports Rugby 08 will feature New Zealand's Richie McCaw as its cover star, and will be released on July 17th for the PlayStation 2 - just in time for the real event's start.

The 2007 World Cup is being held in France, and players will be able to take charge of any officially licensed team, guiding them through the tournament in a bid to win the coveted Webb Ellis Cup.
"The 2007 Rugby World Cup unites rugby fans from around the world and our game, EA SPORTS Rugby 08, celebrates this passion by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, enabling fans to play as their favorite teams from qualification right through to the championship final," enthuses Tristan Jackson, lead producer of the game.
Rugby 08 promises a management scheme enabling players to emulate the approaches of their favourite teams - both in offense and defense. You'll be able to change formations and tactics on the fly as you mould the game, allowing rapid responses to on the field action.
We're also told to expect a new control system, giving you greater control over your team's actions, not to mention command of scrums and mauls. A number of other areas have been enhanced, apparently, including the kicking meter and the line-out approach; as well the camera.
More Rugby action in due course.
