Rockstar 'emphatically disagree' with Manhunt 2 ban
Controversial publisher responds
Publisher Rockstar have today expressed their somewhat inevitable disappointment at the BBFC's refusal to certificate Manhunt 2 for release in the United Kingdom. The move effectively bans the game from sale anywhere in the country.
Rockstar unsurprisingly champion personal choice in contending with this move by the BBFC, stating their belief that adults should be given the right to make up their own mind about a contentious game such as this.
"We are disappointed with the recent decision by the British Board of Film Classification to refuse classification of Manhunt 2. While we respect the authority of the classification board and will abide by the rules, we emphatically disagree with this particular decision," a statement from the firm read.
"Manhunt 2 is an entertainment experience for fans of psychological thrillers and horror. The subject matter of this game is in line with other mainstream entertainment choices for adult consumers."
"We respect those who have different opinions about the horror genre and videogames as a whole, but we hope they will also consider the opinions of the adult gamers for whom this product is intended.
"We believe all products should be rated to allow the public to make informed choices about the media and art they wish to consume.
"The stories in modern videogames are as diverse as the stories in books, film and television. The adult consumers who would play this game fully understand that it is fictional interactive entertainment and nothing more."
The BBFC explained their decision based upon "unjustifiable risks, to both adults and minors" with political pressure linked to the original Manhunt and the Stefan Pakeerah murder case already being levied against the BBFC in some quarters. More soon.

This is just another move by our "nanny state" to censor what we see. Did the BBFC even watch the 'Saw Trilogy' or 'Hostel 1 and 2'. Its a Joke.
i think its just real stupid on what there doing coause it is a parents responability to keep kids from stuff like that im going to b a parent myself and i wouldent let my kid play that till he was aged to play it and i agree with dongjones69 the saw trillogies and hostel 1 and 2 they could do the same kind off damage to minors so i just say relese it cause if u dont people will get copys off the game from a broad or somthing
