SOE lift lid on The Agency
New details about spy MMO emerge
Sony Online Entertainment have finally released some new details on their new MMO title for the PlayStation 3 and PC, The Agency, revealing the first details on the game since the game was first mooted at D.I.C.E.
The spy-based MMO will be a persistent online shooter, with players stepping into the world of international espionage, working for one of two factions vying for control of the world. Exotic travel will be on the cards, with players engaging in James Bond-esque assassinations, illicit drug trading, sabotage, undercover sleuthing, and betrayal.
The Agency will see players kitting out differently depending on their mission, and with SOE vowing to make the game accessible even to casual players, not only will traditional classes be handled in a way offering players more freedom, but also the traditional MMO level 'grind' should be greatly diminished.
As players gather experience, they will also have increasing sway over the game world, with the option set up their own agencies. Such agencies will be staffed in part by NPC spies, capable of gathering information and undertaking other basic tasks.
Many story-based missions are promised, with both competitive and co-operative options on the cards. There will also be various mini-games on offer, as SOE attempt to craft a compelling game world. No release date is offered, yet.
