Last week Famitsu revealed that an updated version of Resident Evil 4 would be shambling onto the Nintendo Wii console soon, and now Capcom Eurosoft have officially announced the new game's existence.

RE4 will hit the Wii in the summer, with the first announced new Resident Evil title for the console - 'The Umbrella Chronicles' - now set to arrive in the autumn. All the content from the Cube RE4 title is promised, as well as the extras introduced in the PS2 edition too.

Predictably, Resident Evil 4 Wii will make extensive use of the Wiimote and Nunchuck, allowing you to 'aim, fire and slash' enemies, while also dodging out of the way. With regard to the Umbrella Chronicles, Capcom also revealed over easter weekend that the title will include locations from Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3, with an enhanced back story on offer.

Capcom also moot "first-person, light-gun-style combat with interactive pathways, multiple weapons and new enemies." All of which sounds suitably zombie-fying to us. More soon.
